"Women Are Heroes" a project and an exhibition by JR. Nuit Blanche, Paris 2009. Now this is what Nuit Blanche SHOULD BE (I'm talking to you Scotia Bank/Toronto...WAACK!) Cutting edge french photographer JR holding it down world wide, taking a medium, and a concept to new heights. Everyone claims to be a photographer nowadays, and photography has always been applied to billboards and large format printing, but taking these two artistic staples and displaying them in abnormal locations and abstract ways is what separates the leader from the pack. Straight up...I'm labeling homeboy a cultural hero. Without street artists like JR and Banksy the urban landscape would be a waste of space. That being said, I would like to thank all those who have chosen to step beyond the confines of convention and redefine the meaning of canvas - I tip my hat to you all.

If William Kamkwamba can do it...why can't we? 1st world citizens are some of the most apathetic, lazy people I know. John Kanzius stumbled upon an energy source that is clean, but most importantly in abundance, and might just be the future of fuel. Innovation is a beautiful thing. We are often provided with everything we will ever need in life, but are so preoccupied with the prototypes of our existence we miss the evolutionary step of progression. I still believe solar energy is the answer, but who says it can't work hand in hand with other clean alternatives. -Mr.-

KNOW YOUR PAST

"Message to the Messengers" by Gil Scott Heron. Listen to the words, I mean really soak this $hit in. Born in Chicago in 1949, raised in the Bronx from age thirteen...Gil was a product of his environment. He is known for his poetry, music, and written works, but most importantly his activism. He teamed up with Brian Jackson in the late sixties, and went on to create a musical fusion of jazz, blues and soul music, laced with strong lyrical content which reflected the social and political climate of the time. Two great works - "Pieces Of A Man" and "Winter In America." This track is extremely relevant and should be heard by all those who are lucky enough to entertain the attention of the masses. It's about time you grew up. -Mr.-

Shai Agassi discusses the future of the electric car. Innovations free us from limitations. War isn't the answer people, freeing ourselves from resource dependency and the blind act of financing our "so called" enemies IS. Sometimes we must sacrifice that which we know, excessive comfort, and old habits in order to bring about positive change and long term stability. ACT LIKE YOU KNOW! -Mr.-

Majora Carter: Greening The Ghetto. It is up to us "The People" to bring about REAL change...do not rely on your politicians, rely on yourself. Get up, get out and DO something. "Little Wing" by Jimi Hendrix (Nov. 27/1942 - Sept. 18/1970). Cultural chieftain people. One of the illest, if not the best guitarist of all time - hands down. Left handed, playing his guitar upside down, Jimi Hendrix set the standard and influenced guitarists worldwide. He first recorded "Little Wing" on the 1967 album Axis: Bold as Love. It is ranked #357 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of "the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time". Know your past! -Mr.-

Bob Marley. Cultural chieftan - one of the highest ranked musical contributors of our time. Along side Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer and a long list of reggae pioneers, Bob Marley wrote and co-wrote some of the greatest songs ever recorded - hands down.
