WHAT THE FU$K

"Politrics" A word made famous by the late Peter Tosh. Divide and rule (derived from Latin 'divide et impera') (also known as divide and conquer) is a combination of political, military and economic strategy of gaining and maintaining power by breaking up larger concentrations of power into chunks that individually have less power than the one implementing the strategy...sound familiar? I don't believe society understands, nor comprehends the importance of the events that are shaping our present reality. First of all, debates focused on trivial matters lacking any real substance and heart are more devastating than they are productive, a.k.a. circular arguments designed to create conflict amongst peers. I don't give a fu$k who you support, both democratic candidates have disappointed me repeatedly. Spare me your transparent speeches involving the importance of change, reformed health care and taxes...we all know government is powerless to corporate greed. Corporate interests out way "the peoples" interests on all levels of government. Bring some real talk, like the fact that CEO's have replaced true, honorable, for-the-people leaders...oh yeah, and a little thing called GREED. Like I said - POLITRICS - don't get caught up. I haven't seen a leader on this earthly plain worth following since Martin Luther King (note: he wasn't a politician). And while the sheeple scramble to prove their intelligence and blind ideologies a war is being waged in a little place called IRAQ...I hear Iran is next. WTF! Come on now...divide and conquer. Gas prices are projected to be @ a mind blowing $3.80/gallon in the U.S. and $1.50/litre in Canada by mid summer. Again - WTF! Babylon, u heard of it? Yeah, thought so...now here's the kicker - U ARE LIVING IN IT. Say Fu$k The OC, Fu$k The Hills and try reading a book, a magazine, something - GOD DAMN! At the root of all culture is the environment from which the culture germinates and grows - know your soil! -Mr.-

"Pump Omni Light's" (Elephant Pack) by Reebok. Even if you don't like pink...come on now, khaki shorts, a white tee and your good-to-go. I prefer these to the Court Victory Pumps, something about the toe. The elephant print is real dope...from afar the color stands out, but from close up the texture takes centre stage. Fresh. -Mr.-

I was lucky enough to see these guys live @ Via Show when I was shooting in Rio last November (10,000 fans strong - one of the best live shows I've ever seen). This is dedicated to all the favela kids I came across in my travels - facing adversity with a smile. Scattered Children soon come. -Mr.-

CULTURAL HERO

"Little Wing" by Jimi Hendrix (Nov. 27/1942 - Sept. 18/1970). Cultural chieftain people. One of the illest, if not the best guitarist of all time - hands down. Left handed, playing his guitar upside down, Jimi Hendrix set the standard and influenced guitarists worldwide. He first recorded "Little Wing" on the 1967 album Axis: Bold as Love. It is ranked #357 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of "the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time". Know your past! -Mr.-

CINEMATIC DOPE

"Baraka" (1992) directed by Ron Fricke, cinematographer for Koyaanisqatsi, the first of the Qatsi films by Godfrey Reggio. CINEMATIC DOPE - straight up and down. The cinematography in this film is superb. From dolly shots to crane shots, static to computer-controlled this film captures some of the most astounding frames I've ever seen on film (24 countries from 6 continents in high quality 70mm). No dialogue, no real plot, just an innocent observance of planet earth in all its shame and glory. Baraka is an ancient Sufi word, which can be translated as "the breath, or essence of life from which the evolutionary process unfolds." You couldn't find a better title for this film. Before BBC created Planet Earth...there was Baraka. Highly recommended.

FASHION

Obey Nameplate Hoops – These are so intricate but somehow understated at the same time. Probably because I’m usually a fan of big obtrusive bamboo hoops. If you’re like me then this is a fresh alternative to the tried, sometimes tired doorknockers. -Ms.-

FASHION

Vintage Christian Dior (style 2434) – I’m not that big a fan of Dior stuff right now. The makeup is killer, and John Galliano Haute Couture blows my mind, but everything else in between is kind of bleh. Vintage Dior however, is something completely different. Look at these shades. Exxxactly. -Ms.-

FASHION

Ashley Watson Daytimer – Ashley Watson should be more famous than she is. Her business is making something new, beautiful and useful out of what normal people pass over during their vintage shopping trips. She goes around to old leather stores and takes ill-fitting pieces with interesting textures and hardware and turns them into new leather accessories. Recycling is a beautiful thing, it's so good to see someone do it successfully in a fashionable way. -Ms.-

FASHION

Grandma’s Glock V-front Hood – Ok first of all, how great is the name of this brand? Even if this hoodie wasn’t so cool I’d probably wanna give them money just for being their witty selves...although I’d still like to get the sweater in return. First of all, check the hood. My modo - the bigger the better. Secondly, the length is great because it doesn’t matter what you wear for bottoms, if any at all. And then there’s the length of the sleeves which is perfect, and of course the colour. All together a must have piece that only the style-savvy will know about. -Ms.-

FASHION

Be&D Perry Bag – Be & D is a fairly new brand making their way out of Brooklyn. Legend has it fame was found after they remodeled a vintage bag, which seems to fit my theme today of reinvention. Beginnings aside, the texture, shape, and hardware make this bag one of my favourites I've seen in a while...this and the rest of the current Be & D collection. Check them out. -Ms.-

FASHION

The Aoki Supras – The only thing, in my opinion, that could have made any pair of supra hi-tops better was if they had a strap on them. Multiple straps = even better. These are without question my next Supra cop. Lord help the foolish person who gets in my way. -Ms.-

CINEMATIC DOPE

"Kung Fu Hustle" (2004). Co-written, co-produced, directed by and starring Stephen Chow. I slept on this film when it first appeared in theatres, and to this day I run into avid martial arts fans who've never seen, let alone heard of this classic flick...a sad, sad fact. Kung Fu Hustle is a wuxia style film (exaggerations, serious situations and comic plots) that takes place in 1930's shanghai, where gangs run a muck and working class Joe's get pushed around...I know, I know - standard. However, dope special effects and over exaggerated fight sequences make this film pop. The Buddha Palm attack is STRAIGHT goods...solidifying this film as a must see. If you like the martial arts genre - DO NOT SLEEP!

FASHION

"Square Dot Cap" by GOODS. Turquoise on black - can't go wrong...virtually unbeatable. Plus I'm feeling the Goods banner on the back. Keep up the good work boys, you're making me proud. -Mr.-

FASHION

"The Santa Ana Jacket" by Freshjive. TOP SHELF! TWO THUMBS UP! CLASS TO-THE E! The gloss text subtly printed throughout the jacket gives the 'Santa Ana' a sheen like texture, upgrading what appears to be a standard fabric to "next level" status. Money in the bank. Nuff said. -Mr.-

FASHION

"Rapunzel" by GrnAppleTree. GrnAppleTree are known for their eclectic prints and fresh color selections. The turquoise on black - butter, margarine even. The bold text placement and dream like illustration - regal, I'm talking sophistication people...not to mention Rapunzel has a real nice a$$. Two thumbs up - Brasil style. -Mr.-

FASHION

"The Hatchet" by Shmack. These are the first kicks I've seen from Shmack...a good first impression I must say. The textured leather is super slick, and the baby blue on black and white...top shelf. The star detailing on the side is a nice touch as well - break the mold, that's what I always say. Don't hesitate to kick your feet up either...the sole is hella fresh. Rated - NEXT. -Mr.-

Kid Robot IceBot Phone Charm – I am an unabashed toy lover. I will never get sick of little meaningless toy charms like these that do nothing except make everything look cool and interesting. I wish I had met the Kid Robot company when I was little. Grab one of these if you can find them and stick 1 or 5 of them on your phone, they're only four bucks!!! -Ms.-

FASHION

ALIFE x New Era Giant Antique Purple – I like most fitteds in general, but this one sticks out for me. It's one of those pieces that would just look sooo good on a girl. Guys stores can be goldmines sometimes, you just gotta keep on the lookout for gems like these. -Ms.-

FASHION

Marc Jacobs Strauss Sunglasses – Marc Jacobs had this thing where he would look through old 60’s porn mags for inspiration. The lack of attire let him focus on what the models were wearing, which were solely accessories, including glasses. These are NOT based on those magazines, and they kind of stand out because of it...which is always a good thing. -Ms.-

FASHION

Nails Did x P’s&Q’s – One of the few collaboration T’s from Nails Did...surprisingly owned by a man, who happens to be a graffiti artist. Once you start looking at some of the designs you can clearly see artwork with a streetstyle influence. Plus the detailing makes for a preeeetty sweet T. -Ms.-

FASHION

Creative Recreation Cesario Lows Blk/Wt Chain – I don’t know why I’m finding myself so drawn to these things lately. Well maybe I do know why, its because they're awesome. They’re so intensely busy, and yet so smoothly put together which, believe me, I know, is not an easy task. Anyone that can make chaos look as fresh as these is a genius. -Ms.-
