CINEMATIC DOPE
"Once" written and directed by John Carney. In a nut shell - A modern-day musical about a busker, a Czechoslovakian immigrant and their eventful week in Dublin, as they write, rehearse and record songs that tell their love story. Posing the question - How often do you find the right person? It took "the best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song" last night at the Oscars...if they didn't win I'd boycott the Oscars for life, not a big task - but still. Starring Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova...take note these two are not actors, just struggling musicians with amazing talent. John Carney made this film for under $100,000 and used musicians from his own circle in Dublins indie folk scene. An incredible inspiration. This is what happens when you say fu$k it, I can do it. Top shelf...one of the illest films of all time.
