"This Is England" written and directed by Shane Meadows is a true story based on events that took place during the directors childhood. This film examines the skinhead/punk movement of the 80's and its transition into the racist movement most are familiar with today. Illustrating the complex issue of immigration and cultural diversity in Englands working class communities. The economic depression and Englands engagement in the Falklands War set the backdrop for this 80's flashback, a time when 3.5 million Brits were unemployed. A great soundtrack tops it all off.
