CINEMATIC DOPE

"The U.S. vs John Lennon" (2006). Written/directed by David Leaf and John Scheinfeld. This film focuses mainly on the post-Beatles John Lennon and his involvement in the antiwar movement of the late sixties/early seventies. Labeled as a threat by the U.S. government under the presidency of Richard Nixon, John Lennon was crucified for his outspoken position against the war similar to John Trudell and Martin Luther King. History repeats itself over and over again as the people grow more and more apathetic, activism is needed more than ever NOW. This film was an eye opener for it made me realize how similar the times are, yet the people seem to be less angry with the erosion of our civil rights and liberties. Rent this film and pay your respects to a man who stood up for his rights...more of us should do the same. -Mr.-
