Born in Chicago in 1949, raised in the Bronx from age thirteen...Gil was a product of his environment. He is known for his poetry, music, and written works, but most importantly his activism. He teamed up with Brian Jackson in the late sixties, and went on to create a musical fusion of jazz, blues and soul music, laced with strong lyrical content which reflected the social and political climate of the time. Two great works - "Pieces Of A Man" and "Winter In America." This track is extremely relevant and should be heard by all those who are lucky enough to entertain the attention of the masses.
